Darkness of Melbourne
Science Professor (Theurgist)
Flynn grew up in the small town of Euroa, a couple of hours North of Melbourne and a few South of the border, situated on the Hume.
Displaying an aptitude for science, Flynn was a quick student, though his lack of social skills and penchant for studying left him a little blind and naive towards other people. Living on a small farm just outside of town often had him hunting rabbits and he was taught basic martial arts by his father. His mother died when he was only 5, of some disease the doctors hadn’t been able to name or cure.
His father dying in a car crash when he was 18 had the effect of making Flynn ever more of an introvert, throwing himself into his university studies. Not being much of a farmer, Flynn rented out the farm to horse breeders and stayed in the city, doing his PhD in physical chemistry and another in theoretical physics, becoming a researcher and sometimes lecturer at the Uni.
He always kept up his kung-fu, unwilling to let go to a link to his father. His father’s death also made Flynn more religious. He started attending the church in Caulfield, the services giving him a sense of peace.
As stubborn as his father, Flynn often tries to honour his memory of him by acting in a way that his father would approve of – though his love of science and thirst for knowledge often prove to be his downfall
Strix, his owl familiar, is somewhat like his partner. He is somewhat wrathful but more cautious and inclined to talk things through.
